(1929-1987) Clarence Woolsey was born in Houghton, Kansas. He toured the rodeo circuit until injuries forced him to quit. He married Grace in 1947 and then the couple moved to Iowa to work as farm hands. In the winter, they collected bottle caps and started creating bottle cap figures. The many forms began to fill up their small house and in 1967 they opened a small museum dedicated to their art. When their health began to fail, they moved to Denver, Iowa where Grace’s brother lived. After their deaths, the brother stored the pieces. In 1993, were sold at auction when he had to sell their farm.
