(1906-1999) Dwight Mackintosh was born in Hayward, California and lived in Berkeley. He was institutionalized at the age of 16 and spent the next 56 years in mental hospitals. In 1978 he was introduced to the Creative Growth Organization in Oakland, California. Hour after hour, day after day, he drew obsessively on plain white paper with a felt pen and markers. His subject matter was the human figure, usually men and vehicles with scribble writing which is hardly readable. Dwight died near his ninety-third birthday.
